US-based radiation oncology company, Accuray, has signed an agreement with Austrian radiotherapy medical imaging company medPhoton to partner on integrating the ImagingRing system with the CyberKnife System.

The long-term strategic agreement is expected to provide Accuray with certain exclusive development, sales and distribution rights of the ImagingRing for use in adaptive radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and robotic radiosurgery.

ImagingRing system enables a range of advanced imaging capabilities including large field-of-view cone beam CT in a photon and ion beam therapy.

It features two arms carrying X-ray source and flat panel detector mounted on a ring which is composed of strong aluminium-alloy allowing reproducible and completely independent movement of the imaging components along the ring.

The CyberKnife M6 Series is designed for radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy enabling precise, high-quality and accurate dose distributions to patients requiring lesser number of treatments while reducing side effects and improving patient’s quality of life.

The system can adjust and automatically stay on target in real-time, tracking the patient and tumour motion continually throughout the treatment.
