Franciscan Health has entered a three-year, sole-source agreement with medical imaging systems maker Carestream Health to provide room-based and portable digital radiography systems.

The devices included in the deal are Carestream’s DRX-Evolution Plus, DRX-Ascend room-based system, and DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray system.

Under the dual-source agreement, Franciscan can also buy Carestream’s DRX-Excel Plus radiography/fluoroscopy system and DRX detectors.

The agreement covers Franciscan Health’s 14 hospitals in Illinois and Indiana, US.

Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, Indiana, US, imaging director Nancy Sayler said: “Carestream’s comprehensive family of DR systems and detectors allows us to cost-effectively upgrade our capabilities by either adding a DR detector to an existing room or portable system, or by purchasing new imaging systems.

“And Carestream offers the right detector or system to address specific imaging needs within each of our facilities, whether it’s the emergency department, radiology department or outpatient imaging centre.”

The Carestream DRX-Evolution Plus is designed to capture various X-ray images such as cross-table, spine, abdomen, long-length and scoliosis.

The system features a motorised overhead tube to automatically track detector movement, and a remote control lines up the X-ray tube to optimise the imaging process.

Developed for analogue or digital imaging, the Carestream DRX-Ascend comes with floor-mount or ceiling-mount tube, different table options, an optional auto tracking feature, and an arbitrary wireless DRX detector.

The Carestream DRX-Excel Plus system can be used to capture both general radiography and fluoroscopy exam, while the lightweight Carestream DRX detectors are designed for enhanced image quality.

The DRX-Revolution features a wireless detector, fully automatic collapsible column, a dual motor drive and a long tube head reach to enable capturing of images even in crowded conditions.
