The new Immersive Training Centre has been designed using training technology to increase medical proficiency and the physical and mental resilience of the healthcare providers while they operate in remote and harsh environments.
Iqarus training and development executive director Ged Healy said: “At Iqarus, we train thousands of people every year, many of whom work in mission-critical environments where even minor incidents can have major consequences.
“We know that the most effective training experience is a realistic experience.
“By combining battle-tested medical protocols with cutting-edge technologies, we have taken real-life simulation to a new level, creating the challenges of environmental extremes in a low-risk training space.”

By GlobalDataThe new facility has been developed in collaboration with international emergency and rescue services, NGOs and the defence, health, security and energy sectors.
The facility’s 8,000ft² dynamic simulation space features scenario based training rooms such as desert, arctic and jungle with simulated weather conditions and sound effects.
It also features replicated street scenes and road traffic collision simulation with special effects of explosion, dust and smoke supported by professional actors and realistic prosthetics.
The training centre is equipped with cameras and a two-way communications system to enable the trainees to work independently.
