Telehealth solutions firm Ostar Healthcare Technology has introduced its cellular telehealth blood pressure monitoring system in North America.

The Ostar Cellular P201 Remote TeleHealth Blood Pressure Gateway System is designed to help reduce 30 day readmission rates for heart patients, specifically for congestive heart failure (CHF).

Ostar Healthcare Technology CEO Doug Hemenway said: “This North American launch of Ostar Cellular P201 brings forth another market first, a unique cell enabled health device with a combined data gateway approach.

“The Ostar P201 delivers more than real-time remote blood pressure monitoring.

“The Ostar Cellular P201 Remote TeleHealth Blood Pressure Gateway System is designed to help reduce 30 day readmission rates for heart patients, specifically for congestive heart failure (CHF).”

“It also provides data input gateway ability, accepting and transmitting other patient centered data from glucometers, weighing scales and all other vital signs devices.”

The P201 system features a cellular device with a combined mHealth Personal Dashboard app, which transmits relevant data to population health management systems, wellness platforms, electronic medical records (EMRs) and health information exchanges (HIEs) worldwide.

The company said the P201 Remote TeleHealth Blood Pressure Gateway System is the first in the Cellular P Series to be released.

Ostar Healthcare Technology chief operating officer Paul Markham said: “Given the current transformation of healthcare in the US, this simple cellular enabled, insurance card enabled, remote TeleHealth solution, has the potential to positively impact advanced chronic disease management outcomes.”

The company said the concept will impact shared saving plans in accountable care organisations, and positively impact health insurance indicators such as Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), with regards to Medicare Advantage Star Rating programmes.
