The new CE Marked liquicolor procalcitonin (PCT) liquid-stable assay will be used on automatic chemistry analysers as an early and specific indicator of sepsis.

The PCT can be used to quickly evaluate the initial severity of sepsis, since procalcitonin levels elevate during systemic bacterial infection and sepsis.

Available in a liquid stable format, the new liquicolor PCT immunoturbidimetric assay can remain stable on-board a clinical chemistry analyser for four weeks, and requires a minimal sample of 20µl.

“The PCT can be used to quickly evaluate the initial severity of sepsis, since procalcitonin levels elevate during systemic bacterial infection and sepsis.”

According to the company, this assay also improves laboratory workflow as it can be run on a primary chemistry analyser and eliminate the need to split a sample.
