Baxter International has launched its next-generation patient monitoring technology, the Welch Allyn Connex 360 Vital Signs Monitor.

As part of Baxter’s connected monitoring portfolio, Connex 360 is claimed to provide an advanced connectivity and security platform with customisable configurations tailored to hospital clinical routines.

The device also features upgrade capabilities for future enhancements.

Baxter front line care president Julie Foster stated: “There is nothing more important than keeping patients safe, especially when time is of the essence.

“Care teams rely on vital signs monitoring to help detect changes in their patients’ conditions and make informed decisions. With Connex 360, we are advancing patient monitoring to provide care teams with the timely insights they need at the bedside, so they can make the most of every moment with their patients.”

In the current healthcare environment, where care teams face increasing demands, timely and secure patient information is crucial.

Connex 360 captures vital signs for adult, paediatric, and neonate patients, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood oxygen levels.

Designed for optimised workflows, the device enables care teams to obtain a full set of patient vitals in under one minute and automatically send the data to the electronic medical record, reducing manual data entry errors.

The secure data flow is facilitated by Baxter’s cloud-based DeviceBridge platform, which ensures accurate data transfer from Connex 360 to hospital IT systems, including the EMR.

DeviceBridge also supports secure device access and clinical data interoperability across Baxter’s connected devices ecosystem.

Connex 360 boasts several key features, including comprehensive security with end-to-end encryption and certificate-based authentication to protect patient and facility information. It also highlights Baxter’s “largest and most responsive” colour touchscreen, allowing intuitive navigation and the ability to view more patient data on a single screen.

Enhanced customisation options include configurable early warning score protocols that alert clinicians to patient deterioration or changes in condition. The device supports fully configurable monitoring modes to meet individual patient needs.

Additionally, streamlined software upgrades for clinical, operational, and cybersecurity enhancements reduce the burden on hospital IT teams and allow for improved functionality over time.
