AG Industries, a manufacturer of respiratory filters used in ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and CPAP / BiPAP machines, has reported a 1,500% increase in the production of its bacterial / viral filters used for the treatment of Covid-19. Due to growing demand for respiratory therapies in the wake of the pandemic, the company stated that it is positioned to play a critical role as a supplier for ventilator manufacturers, including for those listed in the US Defense Production Act.

ClearMask has received 510(k) clearance for ClearMask, a transparent surgical mask. The product is claimed to be the world’s first FDA-cleared, fully transparent surgical mask that can be used in hospitals, clinics, schools, retail, hospitality, and other settings. The mask is optimised for maximum clarity and comfort, and also adheres to ASTM Level 3 requirements for fluid resistance and flammability. ClearMask president Allysa Dittmar said: “The ClearMask is well-positioned to join the fight against the current pandemic.”

QIAGEN has introduced QIAseq SARS-CoV-2 Primer Panel for next-generation sequencing (NGS) of the coronavirus genome, along with integrated analysis and interpretation workflows for insights into the evolution and spread of the Covid-19-causing virus. According to the company, the new products are an expansion of its offering of sample technologies, diagnostic tests and instruments, and research tools for use in the combat of the pandemic.

Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), which represents some 24 Caribbean member states, has granted emergency use authorisation (EUA) to Sensiva Health’s C19 RT-PCR (polymerase chain reaction) molecular Covid-19 test for use in the region.  Sensiva C19 is a real-time multi-method collection test, offering 100% specificity and sensitivity. It provides next-day risk of exposure information.
