Hologic has validated the use of Aptima and Panther Fusion molecular diagnostic COVID-19 assays with pooled patient samples and has submitted an emergency use notification to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). By allowing multiple individual samples to be tested at the same time, pooling is expected to help laboratories provide more molecular test results at a faster rate.
Promega Corporation has launched a new serological antibody test for Covid-19 to detect SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. The test is designed to identify if a patient has been exposed to and developed an immune response to the disease. The company has submitted an application for the Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) to the FDA.
