Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) has completed the prototyping of an intensive care unit (ICU) grade ventilator under Project Praana. Development of this ventilator commenced in late March to tackle the shortage of medical ventilators in the country’s fight against Covid-19. IISC now plans to commercialise the product.

Biolidics has signed a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) with Aytu Bioscience for the joint development of a test kit that has wider use beyond laboratory or clinical environment. This news comes after two firms ended a distribution agreement signed earlier for Biolidics’ Covid-19 test kits in the US due to stiff competition. As the distribution agreement has been terminated, Biolidics will now have to refund Aytu for deposits paid with regard to undelivered orders of the kits.

South Korea-based molecular diagnostic company Gencurix has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for its GenePro SARS-CoV-2 Test. This is the second RT-PCR test that Gencurix has introduced after the first test assay, GenePro COVID-19 Detection Test in March. GenePro SARS-CoV-2 test enables simultaneous monitoring of up to 384 samples. Following the FDA’s EUA, Gencurix can offer provide its Covid-19 detection tests across the US.
