Porex Life Sciences Institute, a member of Filtration Group, has announced plans to expand the availability of Saletto, its filtered saliva collection device, to the genetic as well as genomic testing markets.
With this expansion, the firm aims to provide easy access to saliva collection technology, which will allow more users to predict the risk of certain chronic diseases.

Porex originally launched the Saletto saliva collection device to the market in April 2021. The company claims it is the first saliva collection device to incorporate filtration for reducing and standardising the viscosity of saliva samples.
In addition to eliminating the need for common preparation steps and sample dilution, the Saletto device produces ready-to-use, consistent samples for greater testing accuracy.

By GlobalDataSaid to be intuitive and easy to use, the design of the Saletto device allows the user to place it in their mouth and push saliva into a soft collection pad.
The pad collects a targeted sample volume and triggers the colour-change indicator to alert when the collection is complete.
UCLA Center for Oral/Head and Neck Research director David Wong said: “Resolving saliva sample variability and ensuring saliva tests can be incorporated into laboratory workflows is key to expanding the use of saliva testing.
