To be directed by J&J Medical Devices Companies vice-president and cardiac surgeon William Cohn, the 25,500ft2 medical complex will feature a variety of amenities such as three-dimensional (3D) printers and scanners, laser cutters and a virtual reality room.

The virtual reality room is intended to enable designers to evaluate their device ideas on simulated patients in virtual operating rooms.

The devices developed at the facility will be designed to aid less invasive surgeries and deliver advanced procedures to underserved patients.

Dr Cohn said: “The sheer number of doctors and ability to watch spine, knee or robotic surgery on any given day really dwarfs anywhere else in the country.
