US-based Varian Medical Systems has purchased clinical decision support (CDS) software provider Evinance Innovation to acquire clinical workflow, decision support, and adherence tracking capabilities for cancer care.

The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. The deal is said to be part of Varian’s long-term strategy to boost its position in multi-disciplinary integrated cancer care solutions.

Intended to bolster Varian’s 360 Oncology care management platform, the Evinance Decision Support solution provides access to the latest clinical information to enable clinicians to make treatment decisions based on evidence.

Varian Oncology Systems business president Kolleen Kennedy said: “With healthcare reimbursement models moving to value-based patient care, it is critical for clinicians to be equipped with the tools that make it easier for them to provide evidence-based and coordinated care consistently across clinical settings.”
