For 30-year-old office worker Jay, Neko Health offered the chance to peek into a window of her health.
“I initially saw Neko Health on Instagram and thought it sounded interesting,” she tells Medical Device Network.

Jay is one of thousands of individuals in the UK who have visited Neko’s clinics for a full-body scan in London since launching in 2024. The Swedish-based company, which started offering its services in Stockholm in 2023, has captured sizeable interest in Europe’s health tech scene. It has been a successful few years for founders Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek, the latter famous for creating Spotify. A $260m Series B financing round in January 2025 is a testament to the growth in the company’s financial prowess.
Armed with a strong presence in London and Stockholm, along with Manchester in the UK, the two entrepreneurs are now eying an expansion in the US. With a global waitlist already standing at more than 300,000, Neko is planning to launch in New York City in Spring 2026.
To help lead this charge, the company has appointed Dr Sunita Mishra as chief medical officer. Mishra previously served as chief medical officer at Amazon Health, meaning she will bring beneficial experience in the technology-driven healthcare sector.
“What makes Neko Health so compelling is the opportunity to help build a prevention-first system powered by pioneering technology and grounded in clinical rigour to help people understand their health before small concerns become serious conditions,” Dr Mishra explained in a statement.

By GlobalDataNeko’s main selling point is offering a comprehensive check of patients’ cardiovascular health. The company has developed a new medical scanning technology, which uses the latest sensors and AI models, to provide broad and non-invasive health data collection. Neko says that its service is “convenient and affordable for the public.”
The chain of private clinics offers full-body testing for £299, far cheaper than some competitors that celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow, use in the US. The service costs more than basic direct-to-consumer blood tests, but Neko boasts an array of approved medical devices that measure multiple health parameters.
For Jay, obtaining both her health data and cardiovascular information to safeguard her future health was worth an appointment.
The Neko experience
After changing into a robe and being assigned her main assistant, Jay first headed into the skin scanner.
“This was an enclosed dome area where you stand there, front and back, with a bunch of cameras and lights pointing at you. The whole scan ends in about 10 seconds per side. It was quite interesting,” she recounts.

Eye pressure, grip strength, and ECG examinations followed. Other cardiovascular checks included blood tests and laser-assisted vessel health evaluations. Along with the clinician assisting Jay through each step, there was also an AI voice that spoke to her during procedures.
After the scans, a medical doctor listened to Jay’s heartbeat with a stethoscope and checked her skin for any abnormalities. A one-on-one consultation then followed in which statistics were shown and compared to other Neko Health members.
Unlike many health technology companies, Neko is not built on a subscription model. It is a one-time body scan, though the company does recommend annual scans to keep on top of preventive measures.
“They suggested I reserve another scan in a year’s time at a £50 discount. I’m considering cancelling that because I do not think once a year is necessary. Instead, I can see myself doing it once every three to four years instead.”
While testimonials are largely positive, reviews on Trustpilot are mixed. Jay falls into the former category. Overall, she was impressed with the experience.
“I would rate it positively, despite being quite sceptical about it at first. It was nice to see all the data laid out in front of me and be able to ask questions about it. The process took less than an hour, and the tests were not intrusive. I feel more confident about my health after getting the check-up,” she concludes.
For Neko, the rise in its popularity is likely to continue. The $260m Series B financing round supports this, signalling the belief that investors have in the platform’s commercial opportunity. Now, Dr Mishra’s appointment from Amazon Health represents the company’s leadership attracting the corporate big leagues.
Nilsonne, who is also Neko’s CEO, said: “At Neko, our mission is to shift the focus of healthcare from treating illness to preventing it. In practice, that means more than half of our team holds a medical role and we run research studies to directly inform the development of our technology.”
