Arkstone has launched Arkstone Next, an AI platform developed to provide infectious disease decision support at the point of care for clinicians.

The expert-in-the-loop system is designed to assist healthcare personnel in facilities where specialist input is often scarce such as long-term care premises, rural clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and urgent care centres.

It directs clinicians on appropriate drug selection, dosage, and administration length, or whether therapy is required at all.

Arkstone co-founder and chief science officer Ari Frenkel said: “The biggest challenge clinicians face isn’t a lack of information. It’s turning information from many sources into the right decision, quickly.”

The platform incorporates several tools, including the ARKIE AI assistant that is trained and validated by specialists to interpret diagnostic findings and resolve clinical queries quickly.

It also includes the OneChoice Portal, which embeds guidance and documentation directly into regular clinical workflows.

Alongside this, the Precision antimicrobial stewardship programme (ASP) facilitates antimicrobial stewardship programme management while reducing administrative burdens related to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance.

Users can access the guidance through electronic health records, smartphone applications, and web interfaces.

The new release expands upon Arkstone’s existing clinical decision support technology, OneChoice, which has informed treatment in two million cases over approximately ten years.

According to Arkstone, its models are trained, governed, and validated by infectious disease professionals, ensuring every therapeutic suggestion is paired with citable clinical guidance.

Arkstone indicated that the platform is intended to help healthcare organisations decrease superfluous antibiotic usage, reduce operational expenses, and simplify compliance requirements.
