Reflecting on BD’s financial performance, the company’s president and CEO, Tom Polen, called FY26 a “defining year” given that BD completed its transformation towards becoming a more focused medtech company following the separation of its life sciences business.
BD reached an agreement to spin out its Biosciences and Diagnostic Solutions business and merge it with Waters Corporation’s diagnostics business in June 2025. The bumper deal, valued at $17.5bn, completed in February 2026.
GlobalData analysts highlighted at the time that BD’s biosciences and diagnostic solutions unit was a business worth approximately $3.3bn that generated around 5% annual growth from 2019 to 2024. In addition, GlobalData analysis highlighted that the revenue profile of BD’s business was notably durable, with around 80% recurring, supported by a large installed base and ongoing demand for consumables, reagents, and service.
Continuing his comments on the past year, Polen said: “We strengthened our core growth and expanded BD Excellence to elevate our commercial capabilities, accelerate innovation and drive greater productivity. We enter fiscal 2027 from a position of strength, with a portfolio built for durable performance and confidence in the long-term growth, earnings and cash-flow potential of New BD.”
