Medical technology company Pentax Medical has introduced the Optivista EPK-i7010 video processor in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) markets to provide detailed information for accurate in-vivo diagnosis.
Claimed to be the first of its kind, the device features both digital and optical enhancements facilitating an enhanced vessel and mucosal pattern characterisation.

The new optical filter producing bandwidth-limiting light in Optivista allows the physicians both digital (i-scan surface and tone enhancements) and optical enhancement (i-scan OE).
When combined with image enhancement processing technology i-scan OE produces a clear display of the surface structures of blood vessels, glandular ducts and mucosal membrane in higher contrasts than white light.
This system is characterised by the combination featuring the proven digital i-scan technology, in one video processor providing an enhanced view of the mucosal structures and vascular patterns, supporting early detection, demarcation and characterisation.
It offers a real-time seamless switch for the Physicians amongst HD+ white light and three i-scan modes which include i-scan OE to view multiple aspects of tissue structure.

By GlobalDataThe Optivista EPK-i7010 video processor together with its latest i10 HD+ endoscopes series, or with its MagniView, optical zoom endoscopes is said to generate high quality images.
Suited for routine procedures or complex interventions, the Optivista is intended to assist an optimal clinical outcome.
Maastricht UMC+ Dr Silvia Sanduleanu was involved in the early studies with Optivista.
Sanduleanu said: "Contrast enhancement using i-scan OE highlights the epithelial mucosal surface pattern and especially the vascular pattern in detail.
"i-scan OE facilitates detection and in-vivo diagnosis of lower gastrointestinal tract pathology enabling targeted endotherapy."
Optivista also engages its feature TwinMode to teach the appropriate interpretation of image enhanced endoscopy, providing simultaneous comparison of side by side endoscopic images.
The simultaneous comparison of enhanced clinical images is considered useful in demonstrating the appropriate characterisation of lesions.
Optivista can perform video recording, enabling the capture of HD+ video files onto a USB storage device. An external microphone captures the audio recording for video.
By integrating the video and audio capture functionality there is no requirement for further recording devices or software.
The new, intuitive touch screen controls facilitates simple and efficient operation while for an optimum image collection, the Optivista uses freeze scan technology which automatically selects the sharpest picture for users’ records.
