Hologic has launched its new Genius Digital Diagnostics System for cervical cancer screening in Europe.

A digital cytology platform, the new system helps cytotechnologists and pathologists to detect pre-cancerous lesions and cancer cells in women by combining a new artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm with volumetric imaging technology.

It comprises the Genius Image Management Server to store images, Genius Digital Imager for acquiring images, Genius Cervical AI algorithm to analyse images and Genius Review Station for performing case reviews.

The new platform is designed to improve workflow and lab efficiency as well as provide actionable insights to eradicate cervical cancer.

The CE-marked Genius Digital Diagnostics System has the capability to analyse all cells on a ThinPrep Pap test image and curate a single view of objects that are clinically relevant.

This system provides healthcare providers with crucial information that can help guide earlier detection, as well as improved treatment decisions for patients.

It also enables dynamic collaboration across laboratories in a network and connects pathologists with remote review capabilities.
