A scientist at India’s Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) developed a Covid-19 diagnostic kit that can deliver results in 12 seconds. Based on lab-on-a-chip technology, the kit amplifies and measures the messenger RNA (mRNA) from the virus. MKU Directorate of Distance Education Department of Physics assistant professor T Arokiyadoss developed the test. Currently, the kit obtained a patent in the country and is pursuing a patent in Switzerland.
