Rhenus Contract Logistics Celebrates New Logistics Centre in Eindhoven

New Contract Logistics centre

Rhenus Contract Logistics has announced it will build a new logistics centre in Ekkersrijt, the Netherlands.

Construction phase I covers an area of 50,000m² and will be finished in February 2017, while Phase II will add a further 35,000m². A celebration commenced after a tour and speeches by member of Rhenus Contract Logistics’ Board of Directors Michael Brockhaus.

The new centre will allow Rhenus Contract Logistics to expand its storage capacity in Eindhoven. The company originally built a 60,000m² distribution centre in the eastern part of Ekkersrijt industrial park there three years ago, as well as a DOKVAST development. An extension is now required as Rhenus Contract Logistics in the Netherlands has doubled in five years, including in the field of health technology and media products. In addition to these products, special conditioned storage of medical devices will also be available at the new facility.

Habeon is the architect responsible for designing the new logistics centre. Currently, half of the steel construction for Phase I has been erected and two thirds of the docks are ready. In cooperation with Heembouw, the work was completed in only seven months in accordance with the lean method.

The expansion also ties in with the recent opening of large logistics centres in Hamburg and Frankfurt. Another is due to be opened in Bolesławiec in Poland in the near future.
