Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the medical industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 37% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 18% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent internet of things roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 9% share in Q4 2023, Healthcare Support Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 58% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were ConnectedHealth, ResMed, Abbott Laboratories, Hinge Health, and Fresenius SE & Co. Together they accounted for a combined share of 58% of all internet of things-related new jobs in the medical industry.

ConnectedHealth posted 245 internet of things-related new jobs in Q4 2023, ResMed 244 jobs, Abbott Laboratories 127 jobs, Hinge Health 89 jobs, and Fresenius SE & Co 72 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 42.25% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 42.25% followed by Germany (13.48%) and the UK (11.84%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points lower than the 48.22% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
