Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 21% share of the global medical industry’s internet of things-related total new job postings in Q2 2023, down 6% over the prior quarter.

Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive internet of things-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 21%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the medical industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Healthcare Support Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 8% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent internet of things roles include Management Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2023, Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 74% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were ResMed, ResMed, Fresenius SE & Co, ConnectedHealth, and Abbott Laboratories. Together they accounted for a combined share of 74% of all internet of things-related new jobs in the medical industry.

ResMed posted 568 internet of things-related new jobs in Q2 2023, ResMed 382 jobs, Fresenius SE & Co 304 jobs, ConnectedHealth 230 jobs, and Abbott Laboratories 216 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 38.40% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023

The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 38.40% followed by Germany (18.92%) and India (12.49%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 43.58% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
