Medical Devices industry artificial intelligence deals total $590.1m globally in July 2021

Total medical devices industry artificial intelligence deals worth $590.1m were announced globally for July 2021, with the $250m private equity deal with Certara USA being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 50.4% over the previous month of $1.19bn and a drop of 71.1% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.04bn.

In terms of number of artificial intelligence deals, the sector saw a rise of 21.05% with 23 deals in July 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 19 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with artificial intelligence deals worth $298.35m in July 2021.

The top five artificial intelligence deals accounted for 86.3% of the overall value during July 2021.

The combined value of the top five artificial intelligence deals stood at $509.2m, against the overall value of $590.1m recorded for the month.

1) Certara USA $250m private equity deal with Mubadala Investment

2) The $139.1m venture financing of Beijing Infervision Technology by CCB Trust,Chinese Fund of Funds (FOF),Goldman Sachs Asset Management,Springhill Fund,TopoScend Capital and Zhongguancun M&A Fund

3) Aidoc $66m venture financing deal with General Catalyst Partners

4) The $26.1m venture financing of Lunit by Guardant Health
