Total medical devices industry artificial intelligence deals worth $590.1m were announced globally for July 2021, with the $250m private equity deal with Certara USA being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 50.4% over the previous month of $1.19bn and a drop of 71.1% when compared with the last 12-month average of $2.04bn.
In terms of number of artificial intelligence deals, the sector saw a rise of 21.05% with 23 deals in July 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 19 deals.
In value terms, North America led the activity with artificial intelligence deals worth $298.35m in July 2021.
