Hearing about new medical devices technology that doesn’t include software in one way or another is becoming less and less common.
In fact, the industry has taken things a step further, and medical devices are increasingly becoming connected to the internet, hospital networks, and other medical devices in the ever-expanding Internet of Things. The goal is, of course, to improve healthcare and help healthcare providers treat patients.
However, these features come with their own risks, specifically cybersecurity threats. Medical devices aren’t different from other computer systems when it comes to their vulnerability to security breaches and this can easily impact the safety and effectiveness of the device itself.
