South & Central America’s medical industry IT hiring activity drops 21.6% in November 2021

South & Central America witnessed a 21.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the medical industry in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2021 has seen a decrease of 0.52% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.17% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 0.8% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 52.38% in November 2021, a 57.69% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.05% in November 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 9.52% in November 2021, a 33.33% drop from October 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 9.52% in November 2021, a 100% rise over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 50% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s medical industry during November 2021 over previous month.

Thermo Fisher Scientific posted 3 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered an increase of 50% over the previous month, followed by AlayaCare with 3 jobs and a 200% growth. Medtronic with 2 IT jobs and Becton Dickinson and with 2 jobs, recorded a 33.33% drop and a 100% rise, respectively, while Envista recorded a 100% increase with 2 job postings during November 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s medical industry

Costa Rica commanded a leading presence in the region’s medical industry IT hiring activity with a 38.1% share in November 2021, a flat growth over October 2021. Brazil featured next with a 23.81% share, down 68.75% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 14.29% share, a growth of 50% compared with October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 90.48%, down by 34.48% from October 2021. Entry Level positions with a 9.52% share, registered a decline of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
