The UK’s medical industry registered a 1.7% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.08% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.43% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 0.41% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s medical industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 53.79% in December 2021, registering a 4.88% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 22.07% share, an increase of 166.67% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 11.03%, registering a 6.67% rise from November 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.21%, up 12.5% over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 27.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s medical industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Arjo posted 19 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a rise of 18.75% over the previous month, followed by Danaher with 11 jobs and a 26.67% drop. Sonova with 9 IT jobs and Insulet with 9 jobs, recorded a 350% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Thermo Fisher Scientific recorded a decline of 30% with 7 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 79.31%, up by 21.05% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with an 11.03% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 9.66% share, down 26.32% over November 2021.
