The US’s medical industry registered a 4.0% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.6% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the medical industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.83% share in December 2021, recording a flat growth over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s medical industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s medical industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 61.45% in December 2021, registering a flat growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 10.55% share, a decrease of 14.79% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 8.9%, registering a 24.39% rise from November 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.55%, down 9.26% over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 12.21% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s medical industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Sonova posted 157 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a drop of 4.85% over the previous month, followed by Becton Dickinson and with 130 jobs and a 1.56% growth. Thermo Fisher Scientific with 91 IT jobs and Medtronic with 81 jobs, recorded a 38.93% decline and an 18.18% decrease, respectively, while Stryker recorded an increase of 9.59% with 80 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.56%, down by 4.21% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.12% share, registered an increase of 2.22% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.01% share, up 2.63% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.31%, recording a month-on-month decline of 36.36%.
