GE HealthCare has announced the availability of a next-generation intraoperative ultrasound imaging system, bkActiv, to provide guidance for urology, colorectal and pelvic floor surgical procedures.

Developed by GE HealthCare’s subsidiary BK Medical, bkActiv provides surgeons with advanced ultrasound guidance, ensuring better performance while offering them a user-friendly and intuitive experience.

With automatic no-touch autogain and advanced algorithms, bkActiv delivers improved image quality that enhances decision-making during surgical procedures.

GE HealthCare surgical visualisation and guidance, ultrasound general manager Urvi Vyas said: “By expanding the bkActiv system, we are giving physicians the tools they need to provide precise treatment with the ability to see fine details in image guidance, which ultimately may allow for better outcomes for people who require urology, colorectal and pelvic floor procedures.

“We are proud to be the trusted partner for surgeons around the world, given our long history of leadership in imaging and innovation.”

The advanced imaging system has been refined to provide detailed and real-time surgical visualisation based on user feedback. The enhanced visualisation enables improved image quality for the prostate, kidney and bladder.
