Life sciences company Labcorp is collaborating with Walgreens to offer Covid-19 at-home collection PCR test kits for free to individuals meeting clinical guidelines.

The Pixel by Labcorp COVID-19 at-home collection kits are being made available nationwide in collaboration with the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

To get a PCR test, individuals can visit the Walgreens website and request a free Labcorp Covid-19 at-home kit for clinically qualified individuals aged two years and above.

They will then be redirected to the Labcorp OnDemand health care platform and asked to answer the eligibility questions.

Upon completion, the kits can be dropped off at more than 6,000 Walgreens or FedEx drop-off locations using the pre-paid FedEx Priority Overnight bag service.

The Labcorp Covid-19 at-home collection kit is designed to detect all current Covid-19 variants.

Test results will be provided within one to two days, following receipt of samples by the lab.

The results can be accessed through the Labcorp OnDemand portal.

Labcorp Diagnostics chief medical officer and president Brian Caveney said: “Expanding our offerings with Walgreens to provide Labcorp COVID-19 at-home collection kits to Walgreens customers makes testing within reach for more individuals across the country, including those communities that might otherwise have a harder time accessing health care.

“As we begin seeing regions across the country loosen Covid-19 restrictions, testing will continue to play an important role as people increase pre-pandemic routine activities.”

In January, Walgreens introduced the Walgreens COVID-19 Index, an interactive tracking tool for advancing the rapid detection of omicron as well as tracking variant activity.
