Biotronik has implanted the first patients with its new Lumax 740 implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD), the first such device suitable for use with MRI.
The ICD possesses ProMRI technology and has a life of up to 11 years.
The company said that the new intracardiac impedance assessment technology incorporated into the Lumax HF-T device will evaluate changes in left ventricular volume and could enhance therapy for heart failure.
The Lumax 740 series is part of Biotroniks advanced tachycardia product portfolio, which comprises three ICDs, one cardiac resynchronisation therapy device and 16 leads.
