Devon Medical Products has received Chinese marketing clearance for its ViewSite Brain Access System (VBAS) neurosurgery device from the State Food & Drug Administration (SFDA).
Developed in US by Vycor Medical, VBAS is a brain access and retraction device that provides higher precision for surgeons in reaching target areas in the brain in a minimally invasive manner.
The system helps healthcare providers to reposition the retractor fewer times during surgery, resulting in better accuracy, less tissue trauma and faster patient recovery.
Devon Medical Products is Vycor’s distributor in China, and PKUcare BeiYi Pharmaceutical is co-distributor of VBAS in the country.
Devon Medical Products president and CEO John Bennett said the approval will benefit surgeons and patients from the VBAS device in China as they have in the US.
"Our goal is to help sell US-made medical devices to the rest of the world to both support the US economy but also improve quality of care where needed in other countries,” Bennett said.
