NEC Display Solutions of America has received 510(K) market clearance from US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the MultiSync MD210C3 LCD, a cost-effective display with LED backlighting for diagnostic applications in healthcare organisations.

MD210C3 is a three-megapixel, 21.3in diagnostic monitor designed to meet the needs of healthcare facilities using a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in diagnostic imaging.

Calibrated at the factory to the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) grayscale function for luminance, the diagnostic monitor features a front sensor to maintain calibrated brightness.

"MD210C3 is a three-megapixel, 21.3in diagnostic monitor designed to meet the needs of healthcare facilities using a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in diagnostic imaging."

It also features a human sensor that reduces LCD brightness when the user leaves the monitor, which saves power and extends the life of the display.

All digital-connectors, including DisplayPort and a two-port USB hub, enable advanced connectivity for any type of workstation.

NEC Display Solutions Professional Desktop and Medical Displays product manager Art Marshall said: "The MD210C3 display is the latest in a line of NEC MultiSync Medical Series diagnostic displays to receive FDA 510(K) market clearance for radiology.

"Healthcare practitioners will enjoy its three megapixel colour imaging and high-quality panel in their work environments."

The company said the MultiSync MD210C3 display is available at a price of $4,299 and the package includes a five-year limited parts and labour warranty, including Advanced Overnight Exchange.
