Royal Philips and Imricor Medical Systems have introduced a new interventional magnetic resonance (iMR) lab solution for cardiac interventions.
This solution combines Philips’ 1.5T MRI platform and Imricor’s suite of MR-compatible systems and consumables.

It is immediately available in CE-marked markets and in the US, in some configurations.
The technology creates a workflow for MR-guided cardiac interventions by integrating imaging, mapping, catheter tracking, and related electrophysiology tools within a radiation-free setting.
The iMR lab solution aims to address the challenges by leveraging MRI [magnetic resonance imaging] technology, which provides detailed anatomical and tissue visualisation.
According to Philips, this could help physicians guide therapy more accurately, monitor responses during interventions, and detect possible therapy gaps before procedures conclude.
Commercially available for Philips’ 1.5T MR systems, the configuration features the Cardiac MR Suite with SmartHeart AI-driven planning and advanced imaging applications.
It also includes Imricor’s NorthStar iMR mapping and guidance system, Advantage-MR EP Recorder/Stimulator, and Vision-MR electrophysiology catheters.
This combination supports visualisation of cardiac structures and arrhythmia substrates, active catheter tracking, electroanatomical mapping, lesion assessment, and continuous monitoring of treatment results.

Philips’ BlueSeal helium-free MRI technology underpins the new solution, aiming to simplify installation requirements and facilitate placement near cardiology departments.
Expansion to more configurations in the US and additional countries is anticipated pending further regulatory clearance.
In February 2024, Royal Philips launched the new Azurion neuro biplane interventional system, a significant enhancement to its image-guided therapy system.
