The headband uses EEG+ sensors to map brainwave patterns and deliver personalised neurostimulation. This aims to improve sleep better than traditional methods such as melatonin or sleeping pills.

Walker said: “While sleep trackers do a good job of accurately determining how much time you are awake and asleep, the results do not always match what we ourselves feel in terms of being refreshed and restored the next day.”

The full suite of enhancements to the Somnee app includes advanced brain mapping, detailed session reports, evaluation of sleep readiness, personalised neurostimulation based on brain state, sleep journaling to track goals related to anxiety and health, and visual progress tracking of the brain mapping and personalisation process.

These features aim to empower users to better understand their sleep patterns and improve overall sleep quality.

Walker has been instrumental in developing the Somnee Sleep Journal feature. This tool enables users to monitor their sleep patterns and habits by answering questions about their sleep outcomes and pre-sleep routines.

The journal, combined with EEG+ readouts, allows Somnee to correlate users’ headband sessions with their sleep readiness and outcomes, offering a comprehensive view of both objective and subjective sleep data.
