Zavation Medical Products has launched Cortical Screw designed for use in the cortical bone as an extension of the Zavation Spinal System.

The screw is designed to attain greater cortical bone purchase with a smaller midline incision when using Cortical Bone Trajectory (CBT).

Zavation is launching the screw in 4.5, 5.0, and 5.5mm diameter sizes to provide optimised fit for each patient. The Cortical Screw has a self-tapping feature on both sides of the tip and a 30° variable head angulation.

Furthermore, the screw provides standard and reduction screw options and the reduction screw features a ‘break-off’ tab.

The Zavation Spinal System is intended to offer immobilisation and stabilisation of spinal segments in skeletally mature patients.

It is used as an adjunct to fusion in the treatment of a range of acute and chronic instabilities and deformities of the thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine, including degenerative disc disease (DDD) spondylolisthesis, trauma, spinal stenosis, tumour, pseudoarthrosis and failed previous fusion.

Cortical Screw is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio, which features spinal implants, instruments and MIS procedural kits.

Last month, Zavation launched an expandable lumbar interbody fusion device called eZspand.

It is indicated for spinal fusion procedures to be used with autogenous bone graft in skeletally mature patients.

Founded in 2012, Zavation Medical has over 150 distributors across 40 states in the US.
