Biocept has announced the availability of 10,000 nasopharyngeal specimen collection kits for RT-PCR Covid-19 testing that can be ordered by physicians. The specimens that are collected will be shipped overnight to Biocept’s San Diego laboratory and the results are available to the physicians in 24 to 48 hours.

Arçelik has finished the production of 5,000 mechanical ventilators. The company manufactured 300 devices each day at its Çerkezköy electronics factory on not-for-profit basis. This move is expected to meet international and domestic demand amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has already sent 2,866 ventilators to 14 countries, including hard-hit countries like Brazil and Somalia.

The UK Department of Health and Social Care has announced that it is testing a new weekly coronavirus saliva test in Southampton. The trial participants can complete the tests at home by collecting their saliva in the sample pot following which they will be tested for infection. The participants include essential workers, GP staff and their household members who will receive the tests each week. The samples will be collected by the staff of University of Southampton and the test results will be available within 48 hours.

Abbott has announced that it can provide more than one million of its lab-based serology blood test that can detect the presence of IgG antibodies that can identify if a person was infected by Covid-19. The company is reportedly in the process of delivering the tests to the major government and private hospitals and labs in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir Maharashtra and West Bengal.
