Coronavirus company news summary – Erba Mannheim provides Covid-19 tests on ELISA analysers – NOWDiagnostics, BARDA to develop Covid-19 serological test

By Chloe Kent

Todos Medical has signed a sales agreement with a laboratory based in Wisconsin for the delivery of Covid-19 testing equipment and supplies. As per the $23.76m contract, the company will provide automated extraction machines, liquid handlers and PCR machines. Additionally, Todos received priority rights for the supply of around 100,000 COVID PCR tests daily to the lab.

The Lagos State Government in Nigeria has given accreditation to the Reddington Zaine Laboratory (ZaineLab) for PCR Covid-19 testing. ZaineLab is located on Victoria Island and features Class 3 Biosecurity Safety Technology. The lab provides the test results within 24 hours to 48 hours.

Erba Mannheim has announced that validated automated protocols are now available for its ErbaLisa Covid-19 IgG and IgM ELISA kits. This is expected to address the need for better testing amid the pandemic. The optimised protocols are available for Dynex, Stratec, Awareness and Delta Biologicals manufactured instruments, along with Erba’s own analysers. These protocols are expected to meet manual performance characteristics while providing clinical results quicker.

NOWDiagnostics has partnered with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) arm of the US Department of Health and Human Services for the development a serological test for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. The Covid-19 rapid antibody test uses the self-contained ADEXUSDx platform of NOWDiagnostics. The test does not need additional materials such as reagents and buffers, equipment, processing or refrigeration.
