Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement with a Chinese company to test nine million people for Covid-19. The agreement is valued at SAR995m ($264m) and was finalised with the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO) and the People’s Republic of China, which were represented by the BGI Group. With this agreement, Saudi Arabia will receive nine million Covid-19 testing kits along with the related equipment and supplies. Additionally, the tests will be carried out by 500 hundred experts, specialists and technicians.

Erba Mannheim has announced that it will develop and launch its ErbaLisa Covid-19 ELISA kits to detect IgG and IgM antibodies to Covid-19 causing SARS-CoV-2 virus. The assays can be used manually or by any open automated ELISA analyser. The company has received the CE certification for the assays and has submitted applications for the US Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Notification.

Genalyte has announced that its rapid Covid-19 serology panel is available on its Maverick platform. The SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen Serology Panel detects the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies, which are produced in bodies when infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19. The company said that the panel uses a machine learning approach that enables it to remove false positives and achieve 100% specificity on a group of 300 negative patients.

Accurate Diagnostic Laboratories has announced its plans to launch an antibody test later this week. With the launch of antibody testing, the company will have tests to identify patients with active infection and patients who were previously infected. The antibody tests will be available on Diazyme testing platform.
