Smiths Detection has partnered with Attomarker to produce a blood-based Covid-19 antibody test. UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has already given its approval for Attomarker’s Triple Antibody Test for use by the NHS in the UK. The Smiths Detection team has been working alongside Attomarker since April to develop the design and performance of the device and has manufactured 10 pre-production units, with the ability to ramp up volume according to demand.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has provided Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) to Diazyme for its Diazyme DZ-Lite SARS-CoV-2 IgG CLIA test. The test runs on the completely automated DZ-Lite 3000 Plus chemiluminescence analyser. The assay uses S and N proteins of the Covid-19 causing SARS-CoV-2 virus to detect the IgG antibody.

Republic Services has announced that it will donate 100,000 N95 masks for frontline service providers in Atlanta, Georgia and in Rutherford County, Tennessee. The donation will aid healthcare workers at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and to safeguard the health of first responders in Rutherford County.

UROCAM has received approval from Health Canada for its COVID-19 GeneFinder Test Kit and plans to make the test available for distribution in the country. The Gene-Finder Test is used in the United States, South Korea, Italy and other countries in Europe. Around 15 million tests have been sold in more than 35 countries. The test identifies the RNA of Covid-19-causing SARS-CoV-2 from a respiratory specimen using PCR.
