Vault Health has partnered with RUCDR Infinite Biologics to develop a first-of-its-kind Covid-19 saliva test, with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Vault Health aims to help expand the availability of Covid-19 tests in 48 US states. It is a physician-ordered, provider-supervised and physician-reported test that the developers claim offers the same effectiveness compared to the swab test.

Cummins and 3M have reached an agreement to produce high-efficiency particulate filters, which will be used in 3M’s Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs). The PAPRs are used by healthcare workers to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. Equipped with a battery-powered blower, the PAPRs send filtered air into a hood that covers the head or face of the wearer. This is expected to provide higher levels of respiratory protection.
Chromatic Technologies has partnered with Ohio-based American Thermal Instruments (ATI) to donate new printable temperature, tampering and authentication technology, free-of-charge, which will protect new drugs against Covid-19. The World Health Organization has stated that seven of the ten top-selling drugs get damaged by freezing temperatures, including vaccines for influenza and pneumonia. Both the companies aim to safeguard around 100 million units of drugs that are given to health care officials. The CTI donation has an equivalent value of $5m.
The US FDA has awarded the Emergency Use Authorization to Ortho Clinical Diagnostics‘ total antibody assay for Covid-19. The test, named the VITROS Immunodiagnostic Products Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Total Reagent Pack and Calibrators, can be operated on Ortho’s laboratory analyser, the VITROS XT 7600 Integrated System, the VITROS 3600 Immunodiagnostic System and the VITROS 5600 Integrated System. It will also be offered on the VITROS ECi/ECiQ Immunodiagnostic Systems in the future.
