Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies has introduced the new self-contained ACE Axcel clinical chemistry system, designed for use in physician office laboratories to process up to 285 tests per hour with both photometric and potentiometric detection technologies.

The FDA-approved ACE Axcel features an open reagent system that enables custom assays and an interrupt that allows users to load and prioritise STAT samples during system operation to meet immediate diagnosis and treatment needs.

ACE Axcel also includes a touch-screen, user interface and Internet connection to make in-office laboratory testing faster, more convenient and more cost-effective.

Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies president Peter J Napoli said; “Intuitive touch-screen technology and Internet connectivity streamline laboratory operations, increasing productivity and maximising the potential for the lab to contribute to the financial health of the practice, while providing patients with the medical and convenience benefits of on-site laboratory testing.”

ACE Axcel provides accurate results by using closed-tube sampling with the STEP module and minimising operator-interaction with patient specimens. An on-board reagent refrigeration feature maintains specimen integrity while decreasing handling, according to the company.

Family Care Medical Practice in Green Brook, New Jersey, spokesperson Dr John Chafos said the practice found ACE Axcel made it easier to incorporate diagnostic testing.

“Features such as the touch-screen control panel, high degree of automation, and reduction of sample and reagent handling have the potential to increase the productivity of our lab operations,” Chafos said.

“In addition, Internet connectivity will enable a higher level of technical support, a valuable benefit for our medical technologists.”

Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies marketing and business development vice president Trip Trepagnier said; “ACE Axcel automates and simplifies the testing process, while our nationwide network of award-winning service and support personnel ensures that our customers can rapidly deliver high quality diagnostic test results with maximum productivity and minimum hassle.”
