It is reportedly the first device to provide suction control and laser fibre access.
The combination of suction and laser technology makes LithAssist an effective tool in dismantling large kidney and bladder stones.
LithAssist is designed to work with any holmium laser, so hospitals can use their current equipment and do not have to purchase any additional capital kit.
The ergonomically designed handle allows surgeons to position the laser fibre and suction easily with one hand.

Approximately 466,000 PCNL procedures are performed globally each year, with 67,000 are performed in the US.
Cook Medical urology division global leader Jean-Marc Creissel said the company’s goal for this product is to help physicians use its lasers for PCNL procedures.
“Streamlined procedures are beneficial for the physician, the hospital and ultimately the patient,” Creissel said. “This is just one more example of our commitment to solving problems for physicians.”
According to GlobalData estimates, Lithotripters market in the US was valued at $61.2m in 2012 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.3% to reach $82m by 2019.
