Leman Micro Devices (LMD) has introduced the new V-Sensor and App to facilitate remote medical consultation services by allowing self-measurement of vital signs.

Integrated with next-generation smartphones, the new solution is intended to enable online physician appointments for patients who cannot make it during medical centre timings or those facing difficulties to obtain in-person services.

Patients can use the V-Sensor to measure their blood pressure, heart and respiration rate, blood oxygen level (SpO2) and body temperature, while opting for a remote consultation.

According to the firm, the device provides doctors with medically accurate diagnostic data, eliminating the need for patients’ description or observation of symptoms through a mobile camera.

“Smartphones with LMD’s V-Sensor and App make valuable additional information, which is medically accurate and available to doctors exactly when they need it.”

Remote healthcare expert Tom Foley said: “Smartphones with LMD’s V-Sensor and App make valuable additional information, which is medically accurate and available to doctors exactly when they need it.

“A smartphone with integrated V-Sensor and App also enables patients to check their vital signs regularly with results automatically collected and archived, and these too can be shared during online telehealth consultations, perfect for accurately monitoring ongoing health conditions and for chronic care.”

The new solution does not require any external devices and employs a Riva-Rocci technique to measure blood pressure when a patient presses their index finger against the V-Sensor incorporated on the side of the smartphone.

The V-Sensor also comes with a built-in thermopile to measure body temperature without contact, while another feature is included to enable the measurement of five vital signs within 60 seconds.
