Olympus is set to launch the Retentia HemoClip to assist gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopists in performing haemostasis.

The clip features 360° rotation and an intuitive one-step deployment, aimed at providing control over placement.

The HemoClip is engineered with several features. It offers arm lengths of 9mm, 12mm, and 16mm to cater to different closure needs.

Its short tail length aids in visualising the target site, which can be beneficial when placing several clips.

Additionally, sheath markings are incorporated to assist with insertion and extraction while the handle’s design simplifies the deployment process.

The Retentia HemoClip initially will be launched in the US, with plans for a broader worldwide rollout.

The Retentia HemoClip is part of the company’s EndoTherapy portfolio, which includes solutions for endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) procedures, both methods used to remove abnormal tissues from the digestive tract.

Olympus’ portfolio also comprises devices such as electrosurgical knives and haemostatic forceps that offer “targeted” monopolar coagulation.

It also features technology designed to detect and manage gastrointestinal bleeding, working alongside traditional methods such as clips.
