Stryker has launched TPX HD, a new small bone power tool aimed at supporting a range of complex orthopaedic procedures, including total joint revisions, minimally invasive surgery, and oral maxillofacial operations.

The company described the device as focused on improving performance, control and comfort in surgical settings that require precision and reliability when cutting metal and bone cement.

According to Stryker, the TPX HD includes several features intended to enhance usability. The device is equipped with a tapered attachment design, which is intended to provide surgeons with improved visibility in confined surgical spaces.

The housing of the tool has been engineered to act as a barrier to motor heat, especially during high-speed use while a shortened handpiece and improved grip aim to provide enhanced ergonomic support for clinicians during lengthy procedures.

The TPX HD delivers up to 296% more torque and 40% higher speed compared to the company’s TPX Micro Drill, based on data provided by Stryker.

Surgeons can also customise drill response and sensitivity using the ID Touch software via Stryker’s CORE 2 Console, which allows adjustment of the tool’s performance to user preference.

The system supports specialised attachments, including multiple attachment lengths, a PROStep 5:1 reducer, and the capability for both metal cutting and bone cement removal.

Stryker ortho tech division president Mike Carlin said: “Revision procedures are some of the most demanding cases surgeons face, especially when metal cutting is involved. TPX HD was designed with those moments in mind, when visibility is limited, precision matters and surgeons need a tool they can trust to perform.”

Stryker reports that the TPX HD offers further advancements, such as expanded indications for bone cement cutting on 11 cutting accessories and three new accessories specifically for metal cutting.

The tool is compatible with existing Stryker foot pedals, the TPX HD hand switch, the CORE 2 Console, and a range of cutting accessories.

The launch of TPX HD builds on Stryker’s ongoing efforts to develop equipment tailored to the demands of orthopaedic surgery, supporting a range of procedures and surgeon preferences.

In April 2026, Stryker signed an agreement to acquire Amplitude Vascuar Systems, aiming to expand its vascular care portfolio and enter the growing intravascular lithotripsy market.
