BRAINBox Solutions has signed an agreement with Prolight Diagnostics to secure the supply of Psyros instruments and cartridges, which will be used to deliver its concussion diagnostic and prognostic tests at point-of-care settings.

The arrangement covers the application of BRAINBox’s tests for traumatic brain injury (TBI), also referred to as mild TBI or acute traumatic encephalopathy, on Prolight’s Psyros devices.

This supply deal follows earlier collaboration between the two companies, which included a feasibility study using 260 patient samples from BRAINBox’s HeadSMART II pivotal trial.

The study tested three concussion assays on the Psyros platform. The outcomes demonstrated strong performance for the platform.

Psyros is designed to rapidly detect and quantify individual molecules from a small blood sample, with the capacity to measure biomarkers at concentrations in the single-digit nanograms per litre range, due to its multiplexed technology.

BRAINBox has continued to file patents related to biomarkers and neurocognitive assessment for TBI and neurodegenerative conditions, both alone and in conjunction with imaging technologies.

Recent patent applications have focused on differentiating acute and chronic TBI in older adults from neurodegenerative disease, as well as expanding intellectual property around the use of the sST2 biomarker in these contexts.
