The devices require prone positioning where patients lay face down to allow breast tissue to fall away from the chest wall, which decreases radiation exposure to the heart and lungs by approximately 90%.

Such positioning is also said to enable uniform dose delivery and accurate treatment by minimising respiratory motion.

The devices are designed to connect to the couch top of the radiotherapy machine, allowing the breast tissue to be pulled away from the chest wall by gravity.

"It is reported that prone breast treatment using the firm’s positioning technology demonstrated successful cosmetic outcomes in 80-90% of patients, compared to 60-70% with other methods."

The kVue Access 360 G2 positioning device features an expanded supraclavicular grid to offer complete access for treating nodes in a single set-up.

Compatible with CT and MR, Access Prone G2 comes with low-electron generating technology to reduce skin dose.

The firm has also launched a new respiratory gating platform, SDX 3.0, which has been developed to optimise breathing for management of internal body motion caused by respiration during imaging and radiotherapy.
