US-based company Qfix has introduced new kVue Access 360 G2 and Access Prone G2 positioning devices for breast cancer radiotherapy.
The new devices enable precision treatment by minimising radiation dose to healthy tissue, as well as improving patient comfort and reproducible positioning.

The devices require prone positioning where patients lay face down to allow breast tissue to fall away from the chest wall, which decreases radiation exposure to the heart and lungs by approximately 90%.
Such positioning is also said to enable uniform dose delivery and accurate treatment by minimising respiratory motion.
The devices are designed to connect to the couch top of the radiotherapy machine, allowing the breast tissue to be pulled away from the chest wall by gravity.
It is reported that prone breast treatment using the firm’s positioning technology demonstrated successful cosmetic outcomes in 80-90% of patients, compared to 60-70% with other methods.
