Siemens’ medical technology division Siemens Healthineers has started works on a new $300m manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facility for laboratory diagnostics at Walpole, Massachusetts, in the US.

Expected to create approximately 700 new jobs over the coming ten years, the new facility is intended to enhance customer experience by strengthening healthcare operations.

The firm is currently reported to provide more than ten billion laboratory diagnostic tests every year and plans to further bolster its footprint.

Siemens Healthcare supervisory board chairman Michael Sen said: “Our mission is to extend this reach even further and Walpole will play a major role in this effort. That’s why we’re investing $300m here – one of the largest single capital investments of Siemens Healthcare in the US ever."
