The uCentum pedicle screw features a simple low profile tulip-head, top loading, cannulated, fenestrated and optimised thread design to address increased purchase requirements of poor bone quality.

It also has prefixation screw technology (dual locking), as well as includes straight or curved titanium rods.

The prefixation screw technology adapts the screw head from a polyaxial to a monoaxial design, while still allowing the rod to translate in order to provide true parallel compression or distraction of the vertebrae during spinal surgeries.

"The screws are available in several lengths and sizes ranging from 4.5mm to 10mm."

The company said that to match diverse patient anatomies for use during primary or complex revision surgeries, the screws are available in several lengths and sizes ranging from 4.5mm to 10mm.

ulrich medical managing partner Christoph Ulrich said: "This product was named uCentum in honour of our company’s 100 year anniversary and we believe it encompasses the best of our collaborative product design process and German-engineered technologies," Ulrich said.

"There are many features which differentiate this pedicle screw system from our competition and we believe that US spine surgeons will highly value this robust and comprehensive implant system for their patients."

Compared with the existing pedicle screw systems, uCentum offers surgeons a two-in-one instrumentation set, which encompasses both open and MIS approach instruments and implants that allow surgeons to move between MIS and open procedures while using one surgical set.
