Light curable adhesives and coatings are commonly found in many assembly processes. They provide benefits of nearly instant curing, an environmentally friendly process and higher productivity. New LED light sources are now available, which allow for curing the adhesives in a high-throughput, low-heat UV assembly process; critical for the assembly of medical devices. The different options of LED technology available will be discussed along with the important considerations for setting up a repeatable UV assembly process.
