MCTec is pleased to announce that we have reached a significant milestone in the development of our new continuous coating line for the manufacturing of hydrophilic-coated polymer tubing.

MCTec is set up to coat polymer tubing (PVC) used for the manufacturing of nelaton catheters (urethral drainage catheter). With the pilot run set up, we now have the capability to coat the diameter range from CH 8 to CH 18.

Our hydrophilic coating, which shows excellent low friction behaviour, can be applied to polar polymers, such as polyvinylchloride, polyurethane, polyamides and polyether block amides. This makes the coating and coating technology also suitable for other product applications within the medical device industry.

The hydrophilic-coated polymer tubing is tested on MEM elution cytotoxicity, vaginal irritation and guinea pig maximisation and passes all tests according to EN ISO 10993-10. Test reports are available upon request.
